I Fought The Law, and The Law Won. - It Begins With A Thought Coaching

I Fought The Law, and The Law Won.

Many of you may not know this about me.

I’m a criminal.

I break the law daily.

And I recently got caught.

Actually, 3 times in 6 months to be specific.

And it’s all because of a thought I have.

The thought is:

The speed limit is a suggestion, and I choose to go between 5 and 10 miles over that suggested speed at all times.

This thought has gotten me places.

Like 2-4 minutes faster than those slow people who try to go the suggested speed (a fact I learned in traffic school.)

That thought also causes me A LOT of frustration.

Like when people driving in front of me dare to go below the suggested speed.

“Pick up the pace people!!”

I have said this phrase so often in my car that when my daughter was young she would often yell this from her car seat when we were in traffic.

Apparently these people have the same thought I do…

That the speed limit is a suggested maximum speed and they don’t have to go that fast if they don’t want to.

So…I’m getting places minutes faster than others,
I’m teaching my children road rage,

I’m basically killin’ the driving game.

Except when the police officers whose job it is to enforce the (suggested) speed limit, radar me going MY PREFERRED speed limit.

Therein lies the rub.

Turns out, it’s not a suggestion, and your insurance company doesn’t appreciate it when you choose not to obey it.

Mine sure didn’t.

In order to agree to continue to insure me,

They sent me a safe driving monitor to be installed in my car.

For the next 90 days, I have to follow the ACTUAL speed limit.

I had a little bit of panic at the thought of this.

Going 70 instead of 80 on the freeway!!!??

I had to laugh at my brain a little there.

Because the speed limit used to be 65 on the freeway…

And I thought 70 was so fast back then!!

Isn’t that fascinating?

I drive 25 in my neighborhood willingly (for the children of course),

But going 30 in a 30 feels like turtle speed.

It’s never the circumstance (or the speed) causing our feelings,

It’s always our thoughts about it.

So I’m going straight y’all.

I’m going the speed limit.
And I’m loving it.

It all begins with a thought!!
